5 pm Pre-show
6 pm Start: 81st Oscar's - ch #7 - KABC
--don't drink too much, tough enough to stay awake this year --Why does the Academy keep getting it wrong, helloooo: where is witty-smart-funny --Billy Crystal --Craig Ferguson --Steve Martin when we need him --or for Once something Non-usual: Funny Elaine Boosler (--seven hit specials on cable)...oh well, enjoy it, it's Free! --next year promises to be worse with the junk studios intend to market-target pandering to 14-year olds --what do they care about quality --epics -depth -inspired -sophisticated -intelligent movies the rest of us want to see: they're getting 428 MILLION bucks out of "stimulus" bill --to make movies "at home" --their lobbyist is better than ours....
\UPDATE: So what did you think? Comment below
Me: five previous Oscar- actors who spoke to/of each nominee for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor --liked it, good idea, they should keep it; Tribute: those gone last year --couldn't read the name, credits -curtains -sound -other tech glitches just stupid, pretty amature; rest of the show: can't stand musicals; hanging a curtain of crystals didn't make it classy; boring show. What's the "need" --an aging male homosexual (wearing too much make-up) criticizing/snotty remarks on female actors clothing? --Why? Anyone who can fog a mirror has an opinion, so what. Sheesh, so tacky --passe, KABC, Loose it. Next year: some class --and a comedian.

If you're still awake:
~ Barabara Wawa
Will do her usual mind-numbing nosy "celebrity" thing, afterwards, same channel
Then ABC NO doubt, will waste valuable air time on: no-class "analysis" of clothing, shoveled up by some jerk airhead unseen all year wannabe desperate to make a name for "him"self, surrounded by the giggling bobble-heads, tarted up, who "think" it's appropriate to cram Oscar drivel--non-stop--into News...can't hardly wait ...am I the only one thinking about, missing Siskel & Ebert.... "...it's the movies that got small." -Norma Desmond

Money Madness, Tuesday 2-17-09 PM

How did we --non-banker, non-Wall Street whiz/wize-guys, get down here, in the weeds? CNBC attempted, Friday February 13, to explain how the greed disease of people who worked in banking, mortgage, finance --institutions we counted on, inflicted --infected first Americans, then the world; ripped off all of us.

"House of Cards" was okay, if you hadn't followed it as it happened at the time. I have: the piece was incomplete. --It left out half the story. It didn't interview or explain: the people at the top who ran the Ponzi scheme that stripped Americans, then the world of wealth -security -pavement we were supposed to be able to stand on. Those who KNEW what they were doing --to everyone else, remain in their 'ivory towers' unrepentant, un-interviewed, un-indicted. It left out: 'rulers' --"experts" --regulators who were supposed to be the lions at the gate. It also left out: any sketch of What To Do Now --How To --repair --restore --remain sane, without a home...pension...job.

Perhaps "FRONTLINE" will do a better job:
Tuesday, February 17 - 9 pm PT- KCET "Inside the Meltdown"
How the economy went so bad so fast, what Bernanke and Paulson didn't stop, couldn't fix

So far: I haven't heard any talking head 'experts,' clever bobble-heads say one thing that is on-point to Correct this mess. The media: was far too busy shoveling celebrities on OUR air time; couldn't be bothered with looking at --examining what was going on, at the time. Now: the bobble-heads and the "experts" don't shut up. Neither do they say anything that Helps, they're all too busy Reacting.

The obvious has been obviously wrong
Things ain't too good, not even in Silver Lake daVine. FRONTLINE has earned superb reputation, maybe they will do a good job of examining the money mess/those who got us here. If not: let us hope we see prosecutors do it better --soon.

Silver Lake daVine Calendar '09: February II

February 11
President, learning on the fly "Looking for Lincoln"
PBS - KCET - 9:00 PM Great? Racist? During the war between the states: he abolished right of habeous corpus, shut down newspapers, all protesters arrested --told racist jokes, usurped the Constitution --and fought to keep the states united, enabled black men to join the army and freed people chained to slave labor by color. When the war ended he wanted them to leave the country. My opinion: not 'split'/"two-faced." --In some newly-discovered letters he wrote to a confident, while running for office, he thought it best to appear he was for slavery, yet, secretly opposed.
Will be repeated: Sunday February 15
1:00 PM "Young Lincoln"
1:30 PM "Looking for Lincoln"

February 12
How did we get down here? "House of Cards"
CNBC - 9 pm /EST 8 pm & 12 am --I know what Greed Boys -mortgage vultures -rating agencies -insurance hogs -"respectable" banks did, how they did it, with 'help' from Congress, thug #43 and institutions, and if you want to know Whole Story, that took down American families -entire communities -pensions -jobs then world, it's worth getting to a TV with cable to see this expose.

Not so daVine: Mugged in Silver Lake - Community Meeting
December 30 to January 31 ten men, each walking alone, four along Rowena and five along Sunset, were swarmed by armed Hispanics who demanded their wallet; some were assaulted.

The police and councilmembers urged residents to be cautious and walk in groups when they go out. Northeast Police Capt. Lance Smith said the crimes may be gang-related. Detectives are actively pursuing leads in an on-going investigation. Anyone with information about these robberies should contact the Northeast Gang Detectives at: (213)847-4263

Economy must be impacting gangbangers...now they're moving west, where the pick'ns are plentiful, easy???

The shock of the attacks and their brazenness, one occurred on busy Silver Lake Boulevard in the middle of the afternoon, has shaken the community, Councilmembers LaBonge and Garcetti said.

Bernie Parks --Mayor V --Eric Garcetti : have time to run for office, to Washington, write money-sucking ballot measures, get face time with cameras, smooze developers for donations --How Much time to deal with those here illegally --spreading like cancer, costing us millions, billions state-wide? Maybe no one has told them, about gangs. Maybe when gangs get banging in Beverly Hills Somebody will DO something Real about them. Oh well.

Meanwhile Our $150,000+ a year LA City reps have scheduled a public meeting with local LAPD about major crime up-tick:
Community meeting to air concerns about the attacks
Thursday, February 5 6 p.m.
Ivanhoe School
2828 Herkimer Street, near West Silver Lake Drive and Rowena Avenue
